RSS: https://rss.com/podcasts/apostolic-vs-nominal-christianity-a-call-to-revival/ The recently concluded Sound of Revival 2025 conference in Glasgow, UK, was far more than a series of worship gatherings. It was a divine convocation marked by tangible miracles, prophetic encounters, and the undeniable move of God’s Spirit. While the signs and wonders were a testament to God’s power, the most enduring takeaway for me was a deeper understanding of what it truly means to live as an Apostolic Christian in contrast to being a nominal one.
Apostolic Christian vs. Nominal Christian
In a world where Christianity is often reduced to convenience and rituals, the distinction between Apostolic and Nominal Christianity couldn’t be more vital.
A nominal Christian may be saved, but often lives powerless, impactless, and disconnected from God’s agenda. In contrast, an Apostolic Christian is one who:
Burns with Unconditional Passion for God:
As declared in Mark 12:30, the Apostolic believer is deeply in love with God not for what He gives, but for who He is. Even in adversity, their love remains unshaken. These are the ones who would willingly lay down their lives for Jesus.
Carries Spiritual Understanding and Power:
Apostolic Christians don’t just attend church they encounter God. They submit themselves to the tutelage of the Holy Spirit and walk in power, conviction, and revelation.
Embraces God’s Agenda for Their Territory:
They live with vision and urgency, pursuing the enthronement of Christ in every sphere of life business, media, government, education. They are spiritual gatekeepers and territorial intercessors.
Adopts a Co-laborer Mentality:
They don’t just pray, “God bless me,” but ask, “Lord, how can I serve You?” They co-labor with heaven to establish the kingdom on earth.
Operates as King-Priests (Revelation 5:10):
They Walk in dominion and priesthood loving God, serving Him, and displaying excellence and kingdom influence in every area of life. They understand that God gave us His best, and He desires our best in return.
“If you’re not an Apostolic Christian,” Apostle Selman boldly declared, “don’t ask for anointing, prosperity, or influence because you lack the covenant framework that sustains it.”
Nominal Christianity: Saved but Ineffective
It was sobering to hear that nominal Christians may be genuinely saved but remain useless for the kingdom. This is a dangerous place of stagnation, where believers are content with salvation but bear no fruit, win no souls, and make no eternal impact.
The Enemy Within: Disunity and Division
A deep moment of revelation came when we explored how the devil wages war against the body of Christ by fostering internal disunity. It’s a spiritual autoimmune disease, the church fighting itself. Disunity has weakened the church's voice, allowing unbelievers and systems of darkness to undermine the power of the gospel.
But there is hope.
We Must Respond Differently: A Call to Love, Unity, and Influence
Love one another deeply.
Disciple our children.
Take our place in community and national development.
Pursue excellence and integrity in our careers and callings.
Why? Because influence matters. When we occupy high places in society, we can amplify the gospel, reveal Jesus, and enforce the kingdom's value system.
Keys to Sustaining Revival
Lastly, we were handed spiritual technologies to sustain revival beyond conferences and emotional encounters:
Strategic, Continual Prayer: Revival is sustained in the womb of consistent intercession.
Regular Convergence of Believers: Fellowship fuels fire. We must gather regularly for teaching, equipping, and refreshing (Jeremiah 3:15).
Open Display of Power: Revival is marked by miracles, signs, and wonders (Acts 4:33). The supernatural must be normalized again.
Mentorship of Younger Believers: The baton must be passed. We must disciple, not just teach (2 Timothy 2:2).
Kingdom Influence and Advocacy: We must defend and legislate kingdom values in education, policy, business, and entertainment.
Genuine Love in Action: As Matthew 5:45 and Galatians 6:10 instruct, we must let love be our loudest sermon.
Conclusion: The Sound is Not Over
The Sound of Revival didn’t end in Glasgow. It has only begun echoing in every heart that was awakened, every soul that was healed, and every mind that was transformed.
God is raising a new breed of believers. Not cultural Christians. Not convenient believers. But Apostolic Christians, fire-branded, truth-anchored, Spirit-filled, kingdom-minded, and Christ-exalting.
The question now is: Will you be one of them?
